The Safe Scent: Pet-Friendly Candle Making

Kathren Loges

Getting into candle making is super fun, but there’s a lot to think about, especially when it comes to what you’re putting in those candles. Essential oils are all the rage for their natural perks, but have you ever thought about how they might affect your furry pals?

Are Essential Oils Safe for Pets?

As a proud dog mom, keeping my baby safe is my number one goal. Even though essential oils are natural, some can be pretty dangerous for pets—especially for my sassy little pibble. Certain oils can be toxic or even deadly if they’re ingested or inhaled by our furry friends.

Why Fragrance Oils Are a Safer Alternative

After doing some digging, I decided to go with fragrance oils for my candles instead of essential oils. Fragrance oils are synthetic and designed to be safe around pets. This way, I can relax, knowing my candles smell great for us humans and won’t harm my sweet girl.

Benefits of Using Fragrance Oils

One of the best things about fragrance oils is the huge variety of scents you can choose from. Unlike essential oils, which are limited, fragrance oils can mimic all sorts of smells, giving you way more creative freedom when making candles.

Plus, fragrance oils usually have a more consistent and lasting scent. That means the lovely aroma sticks around through the whole burn, making for a better experience overall.

In summary, while essential oils have their benefits, it’s super important to think about how they might affect our pets. By using fragrance oils in my candle-making adventures, I can whip up products that are not just pet-safe but also come in tons of fun scents for everyone to enjoy. Choosing the right ingredients is key to making awesome and safe candles for both humans and pets!
